The Capogreco Family

Maria and her brother Carlo operate the Phoenix location in the historic Roosevelt District at the newly restored Gold Market.

The brother and sister team come from a long line of Italian food connoisseurs.

Their parents, Domenic and Teresa Capogreco operated an authentic Italian grocery store in East Boston, Massachusetts where they settled after emigrating from Calabria, Italy.

Calabrian Cuisine

The heart of Calabria is the mountainous area of the southernmost region of Italy - just a stone's throw away from Sicily.

Many of the traditional dishes of Calabria include farm fresh vegetable such as eggplants, tomatoes and legumes.
